Flying Start
Dear LCA Families,
At Life Christian Academy, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to grow academically and prepare for success beyond high school. One of the ways we do this is through our Flying Start program, which allows students to participate in dual enrollment—earning both high school and college credit simultaneously.
Flying Start refers to the dual enrollment courses our students take through accredited colleges and universities. These are online college classes, and we provide a designated study hall period during the school day to support students as they complete their coursework. The final grade awarded by the college will appear on both the LCA high school transcript and the official college transcript. Please note that students are responsible for requesting and submitting their college transcript to LCA in order to receive high school credit.
All tuition and fees for dual enrollment courses must be paid directly to the college. LCA does not process billing for these programs.

Understanding the Difference: Dual Enrollment vs. AP Courses
Dual enrollment courses are taught by college professors and generate a transcript that follows your student into college, regardless of where they choose to attend. In contrast, AP courses are taught by LCA faculty at the college level. Students earn potential college credit by scoring well on the AP exam at the end of the course. However, AP scores do not impact a student's college GPA, whereas grades from dual enrollment courses do. The AP exam fee is $100 per class.
Please feel free to contact me ([email protected]) with any questions or to begin the enrollment process. We are excited to help your student achieve a strong academic foundation.
With appreciation,
Jami Buselmeier
